Redzee Search™ sees departure of Ask.com as opportunity to shake up Internet search.

(PRNewsChannel) / Tampa, Fla. – The zebra is looking to earn a few more stripes, announcing today that Ask.com’s retreat from the Internet search wars opens the door for RedZee.com to become a bigger player in the Google dominated market.

Ask.com’s two-year battle failed to make a dent in Google's position. Google commands nearly 70% of the Internet search market according to Hitwise—that’s more than double the next big three search engines combined.

Acknowledging the daunting task, RedZee’s executives say unlike Ask.com, Yahoo and MSN, RedZee.com offers something different.

“Ask.com tried to beat Google at its own game—we’re not trying to do that,” says John Stewart, president of Tampa, Fla.-based RedZee Search™. “We’ve got something unique. We’re counter-programming.”

Two months ago, RedZee.com announced that it had abandoned the standard text-based search results and replaced them with visuals.

The search engine says revolutionary technology makes it possible to produce up to the top 100 Web pages that match queries, instead of the conventional top 10 search results found on Google and other text-based search engines.

The new RedZee Search™ 2.0 displays search results as fanned Web page images. Visitors can quickly peruse the search results by simply mousing over the images and then clicking on the Web site they want to see close-up.

“We believe pictures are worth a thousand words and we’re bringing that philosophy to our search engine,” says Stewart. “Visuals make it so much easier to see what you like. That’s very appealing to younger Internet users especially. This is the future.”

With a red and white striped zebra as its corporate mascot, RedZee™ broke into the crowded search engine market a few years ago by offering a family-friendly alternative. The company says it continues to be committed to ridding smut from Internet search results, but says it wants to be known as the company that changed the face of online search.

“There will always be people who like text based search engines and Google will probably always dominate,” says Stewart. “But we believe there are many people who prefer visuals and will appreciate the way we present results.”
