Evolve Brings a High-end Line of Energy Efficient Handbags to Canada July 11, 2008
Evolve, a North Vancouver company, is working with Chicago-based, Noon Solar, to sell solar powered satchels and totes

Vancouver, BC – In June 2008, Evolve made available to Canada a spring line of high-end, exclusive solar powered handbags aimed at the eco-aware, urban professional.

These handbags developed by Noon Solar, a company started by two Art Institute of Chicago Master in Textile students, have been in high demand since its inception. Noon Solar’s bags are made using only biodegradable materials such as leather that are tanned with sustainably harvested materials like rhubarb and walnuts, and naturally dyed sustainably harvested, and biodegradable textile. The bags integrate a flexible solar panel that is capable of charging small electronic devices such as cell phones, I pods, PDAs and Blackberries.

“When we heard about these bags we knew that they would appeal to the Canadian market especially with the goal of creating a sustainable 2010 Winter Olympics,” said Lori Simcox, co-owner of Evolve, a North Vancouver company.

The new line of bags for men and women are made in a variety of colors, leathers and fabrics for casual and business use. Evolve launched its website on May 23rd, www.shopatevolve.com, and held a very successful website launch at the North Vancouver Arts Council Gallery.

“These bags stand out from other solar panel bags currently on the market,” says Heidi George, Evolve co-owner. “The quality of these bags, the way they are made to have as little negative environmental impact as possible, and their style geared towards the urban professional, make them incomparable.”

For now, these bags will be exclusive with only a precise amount ordered for the summer line in both Canada and the United States. Evolve has sole distribution rights to Canada, and aims to generate sales directly through its website and will sell to only a few local retailers.
